With the voting for the Lok Sabha election coming to an, exit polls released on Saturday predicted a big victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party and the National Democratic Alliance. All eyes are on the prospects of some of the celebrity contestants. Here is a list:
Jyotiraditya Scindia: Union Civil Aviation Minister and BJP candidate from Madhya Pradesh’s Guna, Scindia is also one of the richest candidates with assets worth over Rs 424 crore, according to the data by the Association of Democratic Reforms.
In MP’s Guna district, the main competition is between BJP’s Scindia and Congress’ Rao Yadvendra Singh. According to India Today-Axis My India Exit Poll 2024 BJP is expected to win all 29 seats in the state. Scindia is also likely to secure his seat.
Kangana Ranaut: Bollywood actor-turned-politician, Ranaut, is a BJP candidate from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh. She has a Net Worth of nearly Rs 95 crore. Ranaut is most likely to win her debut election from Mandi against Congress’s Vikramaditya Singh, according to India Today-Axis My India Exit Poll 2024.
Pemmasani Chandrasekhar: Renowned as one of the wealthiest poll candidates in the country, Chandrasekhar is the Telugu Desam Party’s candidate for the Guntur Lok Sabha seat. Pemmasani has declared assets of over Rs 5,700 crore. According to exit polls, in Andhra Pradesh the NDA alliance is likely to win 21 to 23 seats from a total of 25 Lok Sabha seats. The TDP is a part of NDA and Pemmasani Chandrasekhar is also in a good fight and has a slight edge in his constituency.
Naveen Jindal: Industrialist and Congress-turned-BJP leader Naveen Jindal is the candidate with one of the highest declared assets contesting in the Lok Sabha elections. He has declared assets worth Rs 1,241 crore, according to ADR report. Naveen Jindal, Chairman of Jindal Steel & Power is also one of India’s top paid CEOs and he received Rs 73.83 crore annual remuneration in FY23. Jindal is likely to win the Kurukshetra seat in Haryana against the Aam Aadmi Party’s Sushil Gupta, predicts the India Today-Axis My India exit poll.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar: Union Minister of State for IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, is contesting from Thiruvananthapuram, has declared assets worth over Rs 28 crore. In Lok Sabha elections, the BJP leader is up against Congress Working Committee (CWC) member and sitting MP Shashi Tharoor, and CPI veteran Pannian Raveendran. According to exit polls, Rajeev Chandrasekhar is in a close fight and has an edge over his rivals.
